Storytimes for March and April
We are offering three storytimes during March and April:

  • Toddler Storytimes - Main Library (43 Church Street) at 10:30 am - ages 2 and under
    March 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, and April 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th.
  • Story Circle - Endicott Branch Library (257 Mount Vernon Street) at 1:30 pm ages 3.5 - 5
    March 7th, 14th, 21th, 28th, and April 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th.
  • Story Circle - Main Library (43 Church Street) at 10:30 am ages 2.5 -3.5
    March 8th, March 15th, March 22nd, March 29th, and April 5th, April 12th, April 19th, April 26th.

    Readers Theatre Program for Children Ages Seven and Older
    Good readers are invited to participate in a Readers Theatre program at the Dedham Main Library, 43 Church Street on Thursday, February, 23rd at 2:00 pm. Readers Theatre activities require no costumes, stage sets, or props - they rely on the readers' voices to bring characters written on a page to life. Registration is necessary for this program - please stop by the Main Library Children's Room or call

    Make 'Treasure' Boxes During School Vacation Week!
    We will cover cigar boxes with origami paper, pictures from magazines, text, cartoons, and stickers to make a "one-of-a-kind" treasure boxes to hold jewelry, sports cards, or any other 'treasures' you want to store. This craft is for children 9 years and up. Registration is required - call either Library to sign up: Main: 781-751-9283; Endicott: 781-751-9178.

    Drop-In Storytimes for January & February


    We will have drop-in storytimes for all ages (18 months and up) on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 am. No need to sign up: join us for stories, fingerplays, songs, and feltboard stories! Storytime will begin on January 3rd, and continue through February 28th.

    Did You Leave a Bag of Puzzles in the Children's Room?
    Are they donations to the Children's Room? Please call the Children's Room at 781-751-9283 so that we can thank you properly! We also found some iParty receipts that you may want.

    The Children’s Department offers storytimes, crafts, an annual teddy bears’ picnic, a dedicated summer program, and other events throughout the year. Pre-registration may be required for some events.


    Expanded Parent/Teacher Resources

    Thanks to the Parents' Advisory Committee, our Parent/Teacher collection has been expanded through donations from members of that organization. Attached please find a list of books arranged by disability or disease at both the Main Library and the Endicott Branch Library. Click here for the lists.

    Did You Return the Wrong DVD/CD?

    Did you return the wrong DVD/CD? A Tigger & Pooh Hundred Acre Wood Haunt DVD case was returned to the Children's Room with what appears to be a homemade CD of piano and violin music.

    The recently announced winners of the Randolph Caldecott Medal, the Coretta Scott King Award, the John Newbery Medal, and the Michael Printz Award for Young Adult literature are now posted under Award-Winning Books.
