Mystery Authors visit Dedham Public Library
The Friends of Dedham Public Library hosted an evening of conversation and fun with 4 New England-based mystery authors – Jan Brogan, Ruth McCarty, Sheila Connolly and Kate Flora – all members of Scarlet Letters (New England Chapter Sisters in Crime). After the authors’ discussion, they answered a wide range of questions from the enthusiastic full-capacity audience.

Raffle items were generously provided by the New England Crime Bake and the Dedham Flower Shoppe. Books for purchase were provided by the Blue Bunny and Level Best Books. Refreshments were provided by Dunkin Donuts and the Friends.

Thanks to all who participated, and to our Library Director, Patricia Lambert, and the staff of Dedham Public Library, particularly John Flynn, for their assistance and support.

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY

The Friends of Dedham Public Library is a non-profit organization that promotes use of the resources and services of the library for the community. The Friends support and assist the Library Director and staff in providing programs beneficial to library patrons and the general community.

The Friends depend upon donations of cash and books from individuals and community sponsors to fund its programs. We hold an annual membership drive, but anyone can join throughout the year. We solicit community sponsors, in particular for the Museum Pass program. We also handle bequests and other private donations to the library.

We hold book sales 4 times a year. We accept donations of books throughout the year. Please drop off donations during library hours - check the website or call ahead. Please leave large donations [multiple bags or boxes] at the main Library building only. To find out more information about our book sales, please see the library's Calendar of Events for more details.

The primary use of the money raised by the Friends is for Children’s Room programs. In addition, the Friends provide funding for the Museum Pass program. We have also provided funding for the software necessary to create the library website.

The Friends is an all-volunteer organization. The volunteers are people who love the library and work to encourage awareness of the value of the library to the community. The next board meeting for the Friends of the Dedham library is Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 7pm at the Main Library.
